August 2 - 3, 2025. Two day watercolour workshop at Chateau de Saint-Germain-des-Pres
- Instruction by experienced facilitator Femke Koome
- Optional accommodation & meals at Chateau de Saint-Germain-des-Pres
- Optional supplies provided or bring your own
In this 2-day watercolour course you will learn to create loose, flowing floral and informal botanical watercolour art, from the initial subject choice, composition considerations, precise pencil drawing, establishing values and contrast, creating shadows, and applying consecutive transparent layers to create depth in your artwork.
We will be exploring both basic and advanced techniques of this medium, including laying down washes, working loosely, using masking fluid, fine brush work, line and wash, and the effect of different colour combinations. On completion you will have made at least one loose semi-abstract floral painting, and one informal botanical painting.
We will be mostly working with a variety of real flowers, and will also work from photographs; you are welcome to bring your own close up pictures of your favourite flowers, or you can choose from a number of different floral pictures that will be provided.
